Today’s Monday’s Psalm 143:7-8; “Answer me quickly, Lord; my spirit fails. Do not hide your face from me or I will be like those who go down to the pit. Let the morning bring me word of your unfailing love, for I have put my trust in you. Show me the way I should go, for to you I entrust my life.”

The Psalm is set in a situation of urgency. David is under intense pressure from the enemy, probably running away from Soul who sought to destroy him or in the era of his rebellious son. In Ps. 143:3 David laments on how the enemy has crushed him and left him for dead.

Has the world crashed you too and made you dwell in darkness, like those long dead? Have you fallen into despair and hopelessness. Like David, cry out to the Lord in urgency so that you may not go down into the pit. I like the way the psalmist prays to God in utmost urgency. Sometimes we must to ask God boldly to come quickly to our rescue in the hour of our need. That he must not hide his face from us, but that he may shine his face on us and be gracious to us. That he may look kindly on us and give us peace (Numbers 6:24-26)

What has crashed you? Your family situation?  Are you going through a terrible relationship in your family; is it your spouse or your child who has turned their backs on you? Is it your father or even mother? The persons you have invested your trust and love on? What has crashed you. A loved one who has passed on and you are overwhelmed? Grief has had a grip on you and it’s pulling you down into depression, illness whatever it is that has crashed you remember; Jesus crashed all sins and darkness when he rose from the grave. We are no longer destined into darkness or the pit. He is alive! Early in the morning the women witnessed this great news of the risen Christ and they quickly ran to tell the world the good news of the risen Christ. All was defeated on the cross.

May this Monday morning bring an experience of God’s unfailing love. Completely trust in him and he will show you the way to salvation, the way of peace, love and grace. Entrust your life in God. May the Lord bless you and keep you. May the Lord turn his face towards you and be gracious to you. May the Lord look kindly on you and give you peace.  Amen.
